Ancão Beach

Ancão Beach marks the gateway to the Ria Formosa Natural Park, a protected area of wetlands and sand dunes that's home to a rich variety of wildlife and plant species. The beach itself features a wide, open stretch of sand, perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and soaking up the sea air. A walk to the  left along the shoreline will lead you directly to  Quinta do Lago Beach, making it ideal for longer seaside strolls.

The area behind the beach is characterized by its vast sand dunes, pine trees and a range of untouched natural habitats, which offer an ideal place for nature lovers and birdwatchers.

Ancão is also a popular destination thanks to its two much-loved restaurants nestled in the dunes, both offering rooftop terraces with views. 2 Passos is renowned for its fresh seafood and elegant dining, while The Bold Octopus is also known for its delicious food and its sunset rooftop DJ sets.
